With plans to farm and sell salt brined cucumbers to other pickling firms, Baddour quickly discovered there were no buyers for such a product. In a bit of a “pickle”, he started formulating his own pickling recipes and methods of production and soon began packing and selling his own pickles. Although pickles have been around for over 4,000 years, the secret to controlled fermentation was discovered through research done at Mt. Olive Pickle Company in the late 1960s and early 1970s! This paved the way or better pickles and better pickle companies throughout the industry. In 2002, Mt. Olive Pickle was also the first company in the industry to introduce a line of no sugar added sweet pickle products using the Splenda brand sweetener!
